The most popular people on social networking sites Twitter and Weibo recorded on February 14.

The top five most followed people on Weibo are gaining fans faster than their Twitter rivals.

Chinese TV host Dee Hsu (Xi?o S) is now more popular than American chat show host Oprah Winfrey, according to the number of fans following them on microblogging websites Weibo and Twitter, respectively.

During the last week Oprah Winfrey gained slightly more than 60,000 fans on Twitter, while more than 187,000 people joined Dee Hsu's list of followers on Weibo, taking the actress's follower count past the 5 million milestone.

In June 2010, Twitter was estimated to have 190 million visitors per month while Sina's Weibo is reported to have reached 50 million registered users as of October 2010.

Interesting fact: Twitter users send @ replies to respond to other users' tweets while Weibo users comment on other peoples' posts with Weibo's threaded comments system (which is similar to Facebook's comments feature).
