Amy Schumer has shared a naked photo of herself on Instagram in the hope of normalising cesarean section scars.

The 39-year-old covered her breasts but showed off the scar left behind by her C-section, after undergoing the procedure to give birth to her son, Gene, in May 2019.

Writing on Instagram, the actor and comedian said: “Feeling like my c section looks cute today! #hotgirlwinter #csection [sic]”

The post was met with heaps with praise from her followers, with one fan writing: "Thank you for helping me feel more okay with mine!”

Another added: “Beautiful body. I need to love my scar more.”

Paris Hilton also posted a flames emoji underneath the picture, while singer Vanessa Carlton wrote: "Feel like mine lookin' hot today too! What a coincidence!"

Schumer - who revealed she had IVF to conceive with her husband Chris Fischer - has spoken in the past about her “tough” pregnancy after suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum.

According to the NHS, the rare condition causes severe sickness, dehydration, low blood sugar and weight loss. Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, also experienced hyperemesis gravidarum with each of her three pregnancies.

Schumer’s illness became so critical she was admitted to hospital on an IV line.

“I threw up violently and felt sick mostly every day of my pregnancy. Hyperemesis is real and it’s awful,” Schumer noted in an Instagram post.

Speaking during an interview on Anna Faris' Unqualified podcast in January, Schumer explained that, due to the condition, she will not be able to have children naturally again.

"I, for my safety, cannot be pregnant again," the actor revealed. "One in three mothers with hyperemesis, what I had, one in three babies don’t make it.

"So I really don't like those odds. Just because you're vomiting so much you can't nourish your baby or yourself, so my pregnancy was a huge bummer."

Schumer indicated that she and husband Chris Fischer have since explored surrogacy options, however due to coronavirus they have put growing their family “on hold”.

“We’ve put the expansion of our family plan on hold because of the pandemic. Whether I try to carry again or there’s a surrogate, it’s all just on hold,” Schumer told Today.
