PSORIASIS, the red, scaly skin complaint made famous by Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective and suffered by the writer himself, affects more than a million people in Britain. The Psoriasis Association, which has declared this week Psoriasis Awareness Week, is offering people a free copy of the booklet Understanding Skin Problems, published by the British Medical Association, which normally costs pounds 1.99, if they write in before 3 July.

The address is: Department RW, The Psoriasis Association, 7 Milton Street, Northampton NN2 7JG.
