'Overhaul the role of health assistants'
Healthcare assistants should be independently regulated "in the interests of patient safety and care quality", a report suggested today.
The Willis Commission on Nursing Education said the workers who support doctors and nurses in the NHS should be properly supervised with more clearly defined roles. It also said making nursing an all-graduate profession was "not simply desirable, but essential".
