Dozens of new fitness techniques - such as the TRX Superhero Workout, Latinva, and Stickfusion - are aiming to gain traction among the crowds attending Los Angeles's IDEA World Fitness Convention, one of the world's largest fitness trade shows, set for August 11-14.

Thousands of fitness pros attend more than 300 fitness education sessions, introducing new techniques aiming to keep exercise fresh and fun for the masses.

On the menu this year is the TRX Superhero Workout, which encourages participants to adopt "the mindset of a superhero while trying exercises that illustrate the limitless potential of body-weight training."

Alongside Zumba, other dance cardio techniques offering demonstrations are Latinva, a fitness technique set to Latin-style music, and Batuka, a new cardio-dance style popular in Spain.

TwistFit, dubbed a "pocket-size fitness studio," will also offer classes on the technique, which uses two straps, a rope, a rotating disc, and a prescribed set of exercises designed for all levels of fitness. Also, StickFusion uses a foam-padded stick with traditional kickboxing moves and Filipino kali to deliver a total body workout. Or try Corebar, a non-stop movement class that relies on a weighted bar to tighten and tone.

In addition, Crossfit, Pilates, Kangoo, Spinning, and barefoot running are expected to draw big crowds at this year's event. Also fitness expert Charlene Johnson will be on hand to demo her TurboFire technique, which promises to burn up to nine times more calories than traditional cardio classes.

IDEA World Fitness Convention, August 11-14, will host 150 speakers, including Olympic speed skater and brain health specialist Dr. Daniel Amen.

A pass for the entire event is $499 for IDEA members/$589 for nonmembers. Two-day package: $329 for members/$359 nonmembers. One-day package: $249 for members/$279 nonmember. Rival tradeshows include Germany's FIBO and LA's IHRSA International Convention & Trade Show.
