I went vegan for 10 weeks and this is what it did to my mind and body

Taking those first few steps towards a fitter and healthier life can be incredibly hard, especially when you’re so concentrated on the numbers staring back at you from the scale.

However, the way you feel and maintaining a positive mindset is far more important than how much you weigh.

Hannah, a 31-year-old Instagrammer who goes by the handle @bananas.gets.fit, recently shared her transformation story on the social media platform, revealing that she had dropped four dress sizes in two years.

However, in that time she’d also gained 25 pounds, thus proving that the numbers on the scale are inconsequential.

“I’ve been seeing a lot of posts talking about how you guys are down and out about what the scale says,” she wrote.

“The purpose of this post is to show you what the scale says does not matter, take your measurements, take progress photos and stay consistent.”

Hannah told The Independent how she tried to cope with the emotional trauma of being trapped in a damaging relationship by eating excessively.

“Life dealt me a hard time for a few years and I coped by eating, a lot,” she said.

“I could easily pack away a dozen doughnuts while watching TV.

“I ended up in a relationship with a man that I was head over heels for, he was however not the kindest person. He constantly put me down about my weight, told me having sex with me was disgusting, and it all just tore me down.

“When that man broke up with me I hit rock bottom. I remember laying on the floor just sobbing thinking how could anyone ever care for me, and then I stumbled upon Anna Victoria’s Instagram page.”

Hannah was inspired by fitness influencer Anna Victoria’s unrelenting positivity and so she signed up for one of her workout guides.

Even though prying her eyes away from the scales was tough at times, Hannah stuck by the programme and is now feeling fitter and healthier than ever before.

“Anna is very big about not weighing yourself and in the beginning that was hard,” she said.

“I wanted to weigh myself every day and seeing the number go up was almost defeating, but I took her advice and hid it away and relied on my measurements and pictures.

“With her guides and community I learned how to channel my emotions into working out and refocusing, I will honestly say I owe my transformation to Anna and her guides and her wonderfully loving and positive community.

Victoria even shared Hannah’s photo with her 1.3 million followers, expressing her pride in Hannah’s perseverance.

“THIS is what Body Love is about,” she wrote. “Fuelling, nourishing and challenging your body, and loving it no matter the physical form it takes with all that hard work."
