Zach Braff has opened up about his life in lockdown with Florence Pugh, revealing the duo recently got a puppy.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the Scrubs star explained how he and Pugh initially were going to foster the dog.

“But we did this thing that I didn’t know was an expression called ‘foster fail’,” he said.

Braff confessed that he “loved” the term.

He went on to explain how he and Pugh were inspired to do a good deed during the pandemic.

“A lot of shelters are looking for people to foster – and in the spirit of, ‘I want to do something, what the f*** can I do?’, we thought this is something we can do,” he said.

But shortly after getting the puppy, Braff revealed that he and Pugh vowed to keep it.

“Within like 30 seconds of having this puppy, we were like, ‘We’re never giving this puppy back’,” he said.

“I joke that we should have named her serotonin because she just brings so much joy to me.”

Braff did not name Pugh in the interview but is known to be isolating with her in his LA home.

The couple are notoriously private about their relationship, but in early April, Pugh posted a photograph of Braff on her Instagram page, prompting a flurry of online trolls to criticise their 21-year-age gap.

Pugh responded by sharing a short video of herself on Instagram calling the trolls out and describing their comments as “bullying”.

“I do not need you tell me who I should and should not love,” she said.
