‘Inked for The Very First Time’: Madonna shares behind-the-scenes photos of first tattoo at 62

In a tribute to her kids, the ‘Like a Virgin’ singer has a unique design commissioned on her wrist

Pop Queen Madonna has just had her very first tattoo done, in honour of her kids.

The legendary singer, aged 62, posted pics on Instagram of her going under the needle in a Hollywood tattoo shop.

"Inked for The Very First Time" she posted with the images, a nod to her lyrics in the song “Like a Virgin”, released in 1984.

The typewriter font-style tattoo on her left wrist spells out “L R D H S E”, the first letters of each of her children’s names: Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stelle and Estere.

Images show Madonna, with her new bright pink hair and in a black leather bomber jacket, chatting over what she wants with master of fine line tattoos East Iz at the Shamrock Social Club, while both of them wear masks.

Another image shows a kitsch model of the Virgin Mary (a play on Madonna’s name, of course) in the tattoo parlour.

We get a sneak peek of the star lying down holding her head, and wearing a chic Burberry argyle jumper, while being drawn on with a tattoo gun for the first time. Her post is hash-tagged “family”.

"Being a single parent of six children, I continue to be creative and be an artist and be politically active, to have a voice, to do all the things that I do. So I mean, there isn’t anybody in my position,” Madonna previously said in an interview with Vogue.

Madonna’s children range from age 24 years old (Lourdes) to 8 years old (Estere). Her four youngest children, David, Mercy, Stella and Estere are adopted. She shares her eldest daughter with personal trainer and actor Carlos Leon and her child Rocco with ex-husband and movie director Guy Ritchie.

In August, the singer celebrated her 62nd birthday in Jamaica with her children and her dancer boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams, she also recently enjoyed thanksgiving with her kids.
