2016 Infiniti QX30 revealed: Rival for BMW X3 arriving next summer

The QX30 will sit in the Infiniti range alongside the current Q30

The recent Los Angeles motor show saw the unveiling of the production QX30, a crossover vehicle which looked a lot like the concept car unveiled at the Geneva motor show earlier this year.

The QX30 will sit in the Infiniti range alongside the current Q30. Both vehicles will be built at Sunderland by the brand’s parent company, Nissan. The QX30, a crossover denoted by that X, will feature four-wheel drive as standard.

The Q30 can come in an all-wheel drive variant so it’s probable that the engines in the QX30 will be same, which means either a 168bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel or a 208bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine. Both engines will be fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The QX30 is slightly larger than its sibling, and will feature bespoke tuning for the suspension which should improve ride and handling over a variety of surfaces. Ride height is raised 45mm compared to its sibling, to accentuate the SUV abilities. The styling is a touch more aggressive, with more muscular bumpers front and back along with the mesh grille at the front end.

Inside there should be a fairly upmarket cabin, complete with 7in touchscreen interface and a host of standard kit. We don’t yet know exact dates or prices but we’re expecting the price range to begin around £30,000 when deliveries start in the summer of 2016.
