What David needs is a vehicle that has bags of character and is practical – but most of important of all, one that is easy to maintain and all parts should be available. It would also help if the prices were reasonable. At the moment classic prices have been rising exponentially so it would be good if we could find a bargain. I think the Morris Minor would be great and a specialist like Charles Ware’s Morris Minor Centre has everything the owner needs. That includes complete cars and a 1967 saloon on sale at £6,750 is in immaculate condition.

Because David loves Citroen 2CVs, why not simply buy one? This iconic French car is extremely well supported and it is possible to get just about every single part to keep them running. An acquired taste, 2CVs are not for everyone but most will love the quirky looks and the fabulously comfortable ride it gives. A private green and white 1989 Dolly with four previous owners and just 25,000 miles on the clock, boasting new roof and seat covers, can be found for £5,995.
