Volvo takes victory with its extreme downhill racer
Volvo has designed a concept car capable of reaching 54mph without using an engine or a drop of fuel. The Extreme Gravity Car was designed and produced at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Centre in California for an annual downhill race for charity - The Extreme Gravity Competition. Volvo's aerodynamic design beat entries from Audi, Bentley and Chrysler to win the Grand Prize for the fastest car. Last year, the Swedish car-maker won the Grand Prize for design. The Volvo Extreme Gravity Car even boasted a five-point harness for the driver, full rollover cage and effective braking system.
