The motor insurers' research centre at, Thatcham, Berkshire, which tests vehicle security systems, has issued its latest list of devices which allow drivers to qualify for discounts of up to 25 per cent on their premiums.

Many insurance firms now demand that drivers of high-risk vehicles like hot hatches or 4x4s fit an approved security system in order to get cover.
