Spyder on the road
Trendy two-seater open-top sports cars will soon be hitting the capital's streets, following the successful Mazda MX-5. First up is a new Alfa Romeo Spyder, due in May 1995. Soon after comes the MG Midget (although it probably won't be called that) followed by Fiat's pretty Punto-based Spider, and in 1996 we'll see BMW's new American-made roadster. A year later, Porsche will unveil its mid-engined Boxster at the same time that Mercedes launches its SLK - a baby version of the SL.
