Disney+ teases 'Elephant' and 'Dolphin Reef'

Meghan Markle's first job since stepping back from her role in the royal family has been revealed.

On Thursday, it was announced the Duchess of Sussex has narrated the upcoming Disney documentary Elephant.

The news of the collaboration, which will be available to stream on 3 April on Disney+, was shared by the Disneynature social media accounts.

"Two new movies, two unforgettable journeys," the tweet reads. "Start streaming Disneynature’s Elephant, narrated by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, and Disneynature’s Dolphin Reef, narrated by Natalie Portman, on April 3, only on ."

"Elephant, narrated by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, follows one family's extraordinary 1,000-mile journey across Africa on an adventure that will change their lives," the narrator says in the clip.

According to People, the Disneynature documentary will benefit wildlife organisation Elephants Without Borders (EWB), a charity that both Meghan and Prince Harry have worked with before.

In 2017, the couple travelled to Botswana, where they helped EWB place trackers on elephants, which protect the animals from poachers.

On World Elephant Day, on 12 August, the couple reflected on the importance of the organisation's work on their official Instagram, where they shared photos of the animals they encountered during their trip.

In January of this year, it was reported that Meghan had signed a deal with Disney to do voiceover work. According to Deadline, the deal was signed before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their decision to step back from their senior roles in the royal family.

The duchess's new role comes after a resurfaced video from the London premiere of The Lion King showed Prince Harry pitching Meghan's ability to do voiceover work to former Disney CEO Bob Iger.

In the clip, Prince Harry can be heard telling Mr Iger: “You know she does voiceovers,” while pointing towards his wife.

“Oh, really?” Mr Iger responded. “I did not know that.”

"You seem surprised,” Prince Harry replied, before adding: “But yeah, she’s really interested.”

The conversation ended with Mr Iger telling him: “Sure, we’d love to try.”
