Prince Harry ‘will stop hunting because Meghan doesn’t like it,’ says Dr Jane Goodall
‘I suspect that is over for him,’ says British primatologist
The Duke of Sussex will stop hunting because the Duchess of Sussex “doesn’t like it”, says British primatologist Dr Jane Goodall.
Dr Goodall, 86, is a friend of the couple and has been a guest at their former home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Goodall was asked whether Prince Harry and his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, are champions of the natural world.
“Yes – except they hunt and shoot,” she replied.
“But I think Harry will stop because Meghan doesn’t like hunting, so I suspect that is over for him.”
Dr Goodall, who is best known for her research into chimpanzees, was also asked if Prince Harry would remain an advocate for conservation who would support her work.
“I don’t know how his career is going to map out, but yes, I’ve been in touch,” she responded, adding: “though I think he’s finding life a bit challenging just now”.
It’s not the first time that Dr Goodall has spoken candidly about her friend, Prince Harry.
Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Weekend Magazine last week, the primatologist recalled a comment made by the 35-year-old last summer when she was holding his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor.
“I made Archie do the Queen’s wave, saying, ‘I suppose he’ll have to learn this’,” Dr Goodall recalled.
“Harry said, ‘No, he’s not growing up like that’.”
Dr Goodall’s comments come after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially stepped down from the royal family on 31 March.
The couple is thought to be living in California with their son and working on the launch of their new charitable organisation, Archewell.
