Tom Brady has relaxed his notoriously strict diet , which omits nightshade vegetables and caffeine, to occasionally include pizza and bacon because “we’re humans”.
During an interview with Men’s Health for its September issue, the quarterback revealed that he no longer thinks it is worth the stress of worrying about food - and is actually more relaxed than his friends when it comes to cheat meals.
“I have a friend who freaks out if it’s not the most organic this or that, and I’m like ‘That stress is going to harm you way more than eating that chip is,’” the football star told the magazine.
And, although he mostly sticks to an eating plan comprised of healthy foods such as avocado, grilled vegetables, eggs, grilled chicken, hummus and fish, the 42-year-old has no problem indulging in a cheat meal.
“If I’m craving bacon, I have a piece,” Brady said. “Same with pizza. You should never restrict what you really want.

But, according to the six-time Super Bowl champion, he insists on the best and won’t just settle for any pizza.
Brady explained: “What’s changed as I’ve gotten older is now if I want pizza, I want the best pizza. I don’t eat a slice that tastes like sh*t and then wonder ‘Why am I eating sh*t pizza?’”
However, the football star also acknowledged that being healthy or being good at sports requires hard work and dedication.
“If you want to be healthy, you have to work at it,” he said. “But you can’t say ‘I want to be healthy’, then eat sh*t food and do crappy workouts.”
