Also among this week's flood of special summer events is Camberwell Artsweek, which starts today and covers everything from art and photography exhibitions to jazz concerts, wood- or stone-carving workshops and play readings. Among the exhibitions being mounted is artist/photographer Christina Kopernik-Steckel's "The Kyoto Gamble" (right) - a week-long show featuring an installation, documentary photography and news footage. For a taste of what's in store throughout the week, you could try "Pool Britannia", the Artsweek's free launch party, from 8pm tonight at Camberwell Leisure Centre, where art, jazz, dance and surprise guests are all promised - "everything except fireworks", apparently.

Venues around Camberwell (info: 0171-708 0309) today to 28 Jun
