The oyster is an amiable little bivalve stuffed with proteins and things that make you frisky, takes to chilli sauce with glee, has hardly a calorie to its name and doesn't make you fall asleep at the opera.

If you're planning a quick trip to the Coliseum, Sheeky's oyster bar will furnish you with half a dozen beforehand for pounds 7.70 while sitting at high stools in a light, cool atmosphere. If your interest in classical music stops at Ravel's Bolero, remember that the oyster is renowned for its aphrodisiac properties. Told you they were useful.

Sheeky's, St Martin's Court WC2 (071-240.2565).

Tomorrow: Tearooms des Artistes, Wandsworth Rd SW8.
