Would you adopt a Compaq?
Compaq is looking for a couple of grandparents over 50 to help it research the use of computers by older people. The company is offering a powerful Presario multimedia machine to a couple who are prepared to make it part of their lives. To enter, outline in 150 words why you would be suitable candidates. Compaq says: "Let us know why you want to overcome your technophobia and what you think you would use your computer for - to get gardening tips from the Internet, e-mail children and grandchildren, to embark on a further education course or to get even more involved in a hobby." Compaq will ask you for feedback during the year - some of this may be used in features in Network. Note to kids - this is not a good way of getting yourself a free computer: Compaq will be checking it really is used by grandparents.
Send your entry, with full address and daytime phone number to: Compaq/'Independent' Over-50s project, PO Box, 15, London SW6 3TU.
