Good Day for Dirk Auer, a German engineering student who claims a world speed record for in-line skates. By holding on to the back of a sports car he reached a speed of 153 mph on the Hockenheim race-track.

Bad Day for Manfred Schonlau, a German photographer who had hoped that hundreds of his fellow countrymen and women would turn up to pose naked in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The project had to be rethought when only two volunteers arrived.

Un-Islamic Day for Barbie, as the managing director of the Centre for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Iran announced the introduction of Iranian-made girl and boy dolls named Sara and Dara to "counter the cultural invasion of the West". Sales of Barbie were stopped in Iran in 1996 when religious leaders declared her un-Islamic.
