Excellent Day for minor sports: after the ban on crocodile wrestling in Israel, significant records were set in two other competitions. In Estonia, Mait Lepik won the first national banana-eating contest by consuming 10 bananas in three minutes. His winning, time-saving technique was to eat the skin too.

Meanwhile, in Germany, Wim Alaerds of the Netherlands won the International pole-sitting contest, dismounting from his small platform on top of a 2.5-metre-high pole after a record 51 days. The runner-up, Holger Sporleder of Germany, was disqualified when he fell asleep during one of the permitted 10-minute breaks and missed the signal to return to his pole.
