Free home energy audit: Nationwide and Britannia Building Societies offer attractive deals on savings and mortgages

NATIONWIDE Building Society is offering a free 'Home Energy Audit' to first-time buyers. The audit will be carried out by Nationwide surveyors and will identify the cost of work that needs to be done to improve energy efficiency and estimate the potential saving in energy bills.

The society is also offering a one-year fixed mortgage to first-time buyers - fixed at 4.99 per cent for borrowers who take out mortgage payment cover or at 5.75 per cent for borrowers who do not take the cover.
