Bargain Hunter: It isn't a deal breaker if you didn't have a retail spree on Black Friday

Don't worry if you didn't find any great deals on Black Friday; the offers will just keep on coming as retailers get even more desperate to sell in the run-up to Christmas.

There are plenty of offers that continue this weekend and Monday has been designated Cyber Monday as retailers are expecting an online boom.

Simply search for Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals online to see if there are any bargains.

However, the best sites to find them are online forums such as HotUKDeals and MoneySavingExpert, where tens of thousands of shoppers share information on deals, and point out when offers aren't that much of a bargain.

Comparison site for cruise cover if you have a condition

The first website that allows travellers with pre-existing medical conditions planning a cruise to compare policies and buy cover has been launched at Allclearcruise.co.uk. Cruise is one of the only areas of travel where insurance is obligatory.

Cut heating bills by sending a sheep up your chimney

Energy bills are set to hit home soon as the cold weather has forced us all to turn on our heating. However, there's a new insulation device on the market that could soon pay for itself by cutting down on wasted heat.

Called Chimney Sheep, it's a draught excluder for open chimneys that costs from £12.50 – depending on the size of your chimney – and could save up to £65 a year on fuel bills.

Its inventor, Sally Phillips, reckons that 5 per cent of a home's heat gets sucked out of an open chimney flue, but installing Chimney Sheep could help reduce that loss and, she claims, "make a home feel noticeably cosier once fitted". Find out more at Chimneysheep.co.uk.

Millions of homes are eligible for help with energy costs

Around 3.2 million households qualify for financial assistance from their energy supplier, according to new research that was published earlier this week.

Eligible households include all those in certain deprived areas, as well as low-income pensioners, disadvantaged families with children, or those with a disability who live in a rural area. Around 2.2 million qualify for support with cavity wall insulation, for instance.

Know your rights if you buy Christmas presents online

Two thirds of shoppers plan to buy at least half of their Christmas gifts through the internet this year, reckons Citizens Advice. The charity is reminding people to be aware of their rights.

Earlier this year, new distance-selling rules came into force to protect online shoppers from being stung by hidden costs, late delivery and rip-off charges. That means you can now cancel an online order or return goods within 14 days to get a full refund, including on delivery costs.

You can check your online shopping rights at Adviceguide.org.uk.
