Hereford Cow plays with 1,000 pound hay bale

One cow appears to have found a novel pastime after it was filmed playing with a hay bale that weighs over 1,000 pounds.

The Hereford Cow was captured frolicking with their feed from a car window in rural Montana, US.

The original poster of the video wrote how the cows like to itch and rub themselves on the hay bales, yet the video shows one enjoying chasing it too.

According to the poster, the wheat straw bales weigh over 1,000 pounds.

"These Hereford cows were being naughty and rolling the 1000+ pound wheat straw bale down the hill while we were cleaning out the old straw bedding to make room for the fresh straw.

“The cows love to itch and rub on the bales, but when they started to roll they chase after them!"

Originally from the West Midlands county, Hereford Cows were the first English cattle to be recognised as a true breed.

Able to survive both tropical and cold climates, there are an estimated five millions Hereford cows worldwide, with exports of them dating back to 1817.
