Eddie Howe is reportedly under consideration to replace Arsene Wenger as the next Arsenal manager.

According to the Sun, Howe’s name has been put forward by top Arsenal figures as a potential successor to Wenger once his contract runs out next year.

Howe has developed a name for himself within English football after guiding Bournemouth from League Two to the Premier League.

He also successfully kept the south coast side in England’s top divison last season and his diligent approach has caught the eye of a number of influential admirers at Arsenal, the Sun reports.

Wenger’s future at the Emirates Stadium has yet to be confirmed, though it’s believed the Frenchman has been told by owner Stan Kroenke that he can extend his current contract if he wishes.

The 66-year-old, who permitted Jack Wilshere to leave for Bournemouth on loan, is a firm admirer of the Cherries chief.

Howe played more than 270 games for Bournemouth as a defender before injury forced him to retire in 2007.

From there, he became the youngest manager in the Football League, at just 31, when he took charge of the club as caretaker manager in 2008.

His first full season in charge was an overwhelming success as he guided Bournemouth to promotion to League One in 2010, one year after engineering the club's 'Great Escape'.

After a brief stint at Burnley, between January 2011 and October 2012, he returned to the south coast.

The 38-year-old then went on to secure promotion to the Championship in April 2013 and two years later led his side to the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil recently admitted that he is open to a move to the Major League Soccer (MLS) with his Gunners future still unclear.

The midfielder’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and he told German publication Express he wouldn't rule out a move to America.

“In football, you can never say never. You don’t know what will happen. I had a good time in Germany. That was a lot of fun.

“Eventually [the MLS] could be an option. I have fun everywhere. My fans know I like to spend my vacation in Los Angeles, because the city inspires me.”
