Bishop of Portsmouth appoints worker to protect children from paedophiles
The Bishop of Portsmouth has appointed a full-time worker to protect children from paedophiles. The bishop outlined the duties of the new employee to include preventing paedophiles from finding their way into positions of trust, such as as Sunday school teaching and youth work. The worker, Juno Hollyhock, has been welcomed by police.
Six months ago a vicar from the Portsmouth area was jailed for indecently assaulting seven boys. Last year a Scout leader was jailed for indecent acts against boys.
