Airline cuts
TRANS World Airlines is to close its Manhattan reservations office and lay off 450 union members employed there in a consolidation that will reduce the company's presence in Manhattan to just a small sales office. A streamlined flight schedule is expected to be announced shortly, as part of a new operating plan due to take effect in October.
