US STOCKS were mixed. Dell Computer Corp, the market's most actively traded stock, fell for a second session on concern that its sales growth is slowing.

The Dow Jones closed 22.14 higher at 9,297.03, after rising 112 and falling 40. The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 11.73, or 1 per cent, to 1,241.86. The Nasdaq index fell 7.96, or 0.3 per cent, to 2,313.93, erasing a 46- point gain. Advancers and decliners were almost evenly matched on the New York Stock Exchange.
