THE DOW Jones Industrial Average rose 12.54, or 0.1 per cent, to 11,257.43 after touching 11,383.74, its first intraday record since 24 August.
General Electric led the advance after announcing a 3-for-1 stock split. The Nasdaq, 53 per cent computer-related stocks and 16 per cent telecoms, rose 38.00, or 1 per cent, to 3753.06. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 2.27, or 0.2 per cent, to 1421.05, led by computer-related shares.
