UK SHARES reclaimed the psychologically key 6,000 level, despite shedding half the session's best gains after publication of the Bank of England's Inflation Report. The FTSE 100 ended 36 points higher at 6,014.4, having touched 6,049.1. The advance came in the face of stronger-than- expected labour market data and news of a more hawkish tack from the Bank of England in its quarterly inflation report, raising the spectre of a turn in domestic interest rates.
