Bankruptcies at five-year low
The number of bankruptcies fell to a five-year low in 1995 but remains high compared to pre-recession levels, according to the accountants KPMG. The total for individuals in England and Wales was 21,933, 14 per cent down on 1994 and the lowest figure since 1990, when 12,058 were recorded. Company liquidations were also at their lowest level for five years, totalling 14,299.
