DELTA Air Lines said the US Department of Transportation denied its request that all affected parties could comment on British Airways' proposed dollars 750m (pounds 430m) investment in USAir.

Delta's chief executive, Ronald Allen, said: 'We find it astonishing that the Department of Transportation would, in less than 24 hours, rule out the role of public participation in a public policy issue of such import.'
