German wages rise
Wages in western Germany rose faster in real terms in 1992 than in other comparable industrial countries, Germany's Federal Statistics Office said.
As an example, the office said that hourly pay scale wages for workers in manufacturing industry had risen by 2.3 per cent in July and by 1.8 per cent in October. This compared with a rise of 1.5 per cent in the US in each of these months.
