Legal & General profits double
Legal & General, one of the UK's largest insurers, announced a near-doubling of pre-tax profits, up to pounds 117m in the six months of 1995. But it admitted that a large part of its profits were related to better stock market performance. L&G lifted its interim dividend by 10.8 per cent, to 7.7p a share. The shares rose18p to 565p.
