Apple has released a slew of television adverts promoting the iPhone 6 and its recently acquired Beats By Dre headphones ahead of Black Friday - and they pretty much tell you everything you need about each brand.

In the Beats ad, the company co-founded by music mogul Dr Dre claims to have “re-invented” the selfie with its Solo headphones. The one-minute clip features a string of celebrities you won't have heard off unless you're into sports or under the age of 30.

Nicki Minaj, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, rappers Big Sean and 2 Chainz and YouTuber Bethany Mota give their best selfie pose. Saturday Night Live comedian Kenan Thompson also appears in the advert along with tennis player Serena Williams and NFL receiver Victor Cruz.

Meanwhile, the iPhone advert lets technology do the talking (voiced by comedian Jimmy Fallon and pop star turned actor Justin Timberlake), showcasing some of its features against an all-white, minimalist background. No celebrities, no selfies.

On Tuesday, Apple become the first US firm to reach a $700bn (£445bn) market valuation. It stock has more than doubled since Tim Cook took over from Steve Jobs in 2011, boosted by the iPhone 6 Plus and its new line-up of products and services such as Apple Pay and the Apple Watch.
