BT seeking to lose 15,000 workers
BT is set to slash up to 15,000 staff from its workforce, as it moves towards completing 21CN, its next-generation network. The telecoms giant has made
no compulsory redundancies since it was privatised over 20 years ago and is expected to say this week that it will continue that policy. But the new network requires far fewer maintenance and engineering staff and will dramatically cut BT's cost base.
