China search engine in Orange tie-in

Baidu, China’s biggest internet search engine, has signed a deal with France’s Orange to appear on the homescreen of the mobile giant’s telephones across Africa.

It is believed to be the biggest foray into mobile phones by a Chinese web company outside its home country.

Meanwhile, Orange said that demand for Android smartphones has doubled in Egypt during the past six months.
