Ex-BBC boss Lorraine Heggessey comes back on a Boomerang

Lorraine Heggessey, a former controller of BBC1, has re-emerged in the media spotlight as she announced plans for a new TV production company that will be listed on the stock market.

Ms Heggessey is executive chairman of Boom Pictures, which will be reversed into an existing listed media company called Boomerang Plus, in a cash offer that values the business at £7m.

The private-equity firm LDC and the existing Boomerang team, based in Cardiff, are backing Ms Heggessey. LDC has a track record in indep-endent TV after previously investing in Mersey TV, which made teen drama Hollyoaks. Ms Heggessey also has indie experience as she ran Talkback Thames, which makes The X Factor and The Apprentice, after leaving the BBC.
