Fastest growth posted by Sainsbury's
The supermarket chain Sainsbury's has emerged as the fastest-growing of the big four grocers so far this year, putting rivals Tesco, Asda and Morrisons in the shade.
Sainsbury's grew its sales by 6.2 per cent over the 12 weeks to 17 March, giving it a 16.9 per cent share of the grocery market, according to Kantar Worldpanel. But Aldi was top dog as it posted an explosive a 30.8 per cent uplift in revenues over the period after cash-strapped consumers flocked to its stores. Waitrose also continued its recent form, with sales up 12.5 per cent.
