Hackett London, the upmarket preppy
menswear brand, has beaten the high street malaise and reported a near 30 per
cent rise in sales for the year.
Hackett, famous for its rugby shirts, said overseas growth from the Middle East and Europe had boosted sales. But new stores in London, including one at Heathrow Terminal 4, also helped it increase profits. It revealed profits jumped to £6.2m for the year to April, up from £4.9m the previous year.
Turnover increased 27 per cent to £96m, while total Hackett sales worldwide increased 24 per cent to €133m.
The group plans further overseas expansion, with a focus on the Far East region.
But London remains a key market and it has recently refurbished two stores and opened in Spitalfields, east London.
Hackett is part of clothing group Pepe Jeans.
