<i>Independent</i> Business Editor wins award

The Independent's Business Editor, David Prosser, was yesterday named as the British Insurance Brokers Association's Business Journalist of the Year in a ceremony in the City of London.

The award was made for an article published in The Independent last summer, entitled "Insurers must help us plan for the future".

The judges praised the way David Prosser had challenged the insurance industry to confront the need for welfare state reform, "covering complicated themes in thought-provoking fashion", adding that the article represented an "outstanding exercise in analysis of demographic change and the political realities facing insurers".
