Marks & Spencer is to slash the number of clothing lines it will sell next year.
Bosses, unveiling the retailer’s latest spring/summer collection as it looks to win back customers, have said there will be 20 per cent fewer lines than two years ago in a sign the company is beginning to regain confidence in its abilities.
Customers and analysts have complained M&S has for too long had overcrowded stores with excess stock and duplicated too many garments.
“We are committed to making our brands more distinctive and easier to shop, which is being noticed by our customers who comment that there is less duplication in the ranges,” said director of general merchandise John Dixon.
