Premium bond holders sit on £30m of unclaimed prizes

National Savings & Investment said yesterday that it was seeking as many as 550,000 people who have failed to claim £30m worth of premium bond prizes.

The group said that bondholders had failed to claim some prizes worth as much as £100,000 in some cases. One prize of £25,000 awaits a man who owns just £50 worth of bonds.

NS&I said that the £30m unclaimed total is the biggest it has ever known.
