Shipyourenemiesglitter.com founder Matthew Carpenter pleads with people to 'stop buying this horrible glitter product' and puts site up for sale

The site has already generated sales of over $22,000 Australian dollars since it went live

For Matthew Carpenter, glitter bombing has lost its sparkle.

The 22-year-old entrepreneur behind the site shipyourenemiesglitter.com made $20,000 Australian dollars in sales in the four days after it went live, gaining 2.5 million visits to the site, and nearly 3,000 shares across social media. Even Jimmy Fallon mentioned it on The Tonight Show.

The site went viral after people discovered it had become possible to wreak a kind of anonymous revenge on enemies that wasn’t violent or life-changing, but would seriously ruin someone’s day – involving copious amounts of glitter.

“We send glitter to the people you hate,” the site reads. “Glitter as a service: want to p*** off someone you dislike for only $9.99? Let us send them some stupid f***ing glitter that is guaranteed to go everywhere.”

The simple process of how to carry out this deed is explained on the site: “Pay us money, provide an address anywhere in the world and we'll send them so much glitter in an envelope that they'll be finding that s*** everywhere for weeks. We'll also include a note telling the person exactly why they're receiving this terrible gift. Hint: the glitter will be mixed in with the note thus increasing maximum spillage.”

But Carpenter has clearly had enough. Less than a week after the anonymous glitter bombing site went live he has put it up for sale.

“Hi guys, I’m the founder of this website,” he wrote on Product Hunt as things started to spiral. “Please stop buying this horrible glitter product – I’m sick of dealing with it. Sincerely, Mat”.

Happily, already Carpenter stands to make at least $70,000 Australian dollars on the venture. He has put it up for sale on auction site Flippa, and has had 333 bids made on it since Wednesday. There are still four days left until the bidding ends.
