Undeterred by its loss of up to £30m from the decision by the Swiss Central Bank to abandon the tether of its franc to the euro, spread better IG is starting Sunday trading.
The firm will allow clients to trade a selection of markets that could be affected by weekend events such as political, financial and economic news.
The FTSE 100, Germany’s CAC 30 and Wall Street markets will be available from 8am until 10.40pm with any position still open rolling onto weekday contracts.
The move means clients will be able to respond immediately to polling data for the UK 2015 general election, which often appears on a Sunday.
However, there will be no market on the Swiss franc.
