Bass , after months of under performance, topped the Footsie leader board with a 40p gain to 704.5p. Allied Domecq , despite in-line profits, fell 4.5p to 347p on the lack of takeover action. Rolls-Royce gave up 3.5p (to 217p) after Monday's BMW inspired gain and BP Amoco remained in the dumps, falling 5p to 569.5p.
