UK house prices fell 10.2% last year, Government says
Housing UK property prices fell 10.2 per cent in 2008, according to figures yesterday from the Department of Communities and Local Government. House prices dropped 2.3 per cent during December alone. The average home now costs £195,317 compared with £219,591 in the same month in 2007. The steepest fall was in Northern Ireland which saw a drop of 17.9 per cent. In England prices fell 10.4 per cent, in Wales 10.3 per cent and Scotland 6 per cent.
