With an investment of £14m, Robin Hood can quit stealing from the rich
Robin Hood and his merry men are out hunting for money again – £14m to be precise.
Leading the band is Martin Barratt, the chief executive of Discovery Attractions, who is buying the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre from Nottinghamshire County Council in a £14m deal.
Mr Barratt, a former executive at Merlin Entertainments, Tom Harley, a serial entrepreneur and Ian McGonigal, an expert in visitor attractions, are now out on the road fundraising to build a state-of-the-art Robin Hood visitor attraction at Sherwood to revitalise the legendary hero. Nottinghamshire County Council will be investing £1.6m in the new centre. Cambridge Corporate Consultants is advising on the deal, which is attracting interest from venture capital funds.
