In the latest box office success for the Bollywood film company, Eros International's coming-of-age drama Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) has taken $18.7m (£11.5m) in its first week.

The movie, filmed mainly in Spain, grossed over $3.8m from outside India, making it the country's best-performing film internationally of 2011 so far.

ZNMD is the third recent hit for Eros, which is listed on the Alternative Investment Market and has seen its share price rise more than 10 per cent in the last month.

Its thriller, Murder 2, which was released earlier this month, grossed $7.6m in its opening weekend, while Ready – a romantic comedy featuring Salman Khan – managed first-week box office receipts of more than $25m.
