INSTITUTIONAL INVESTMENT in UK securities reached a record pounds 8.3bn in the last quarter of 1998, the Office for National Statistics revealed yesterday.
Net investment in overseas stocks also rose by pounds 3.4bn on the previous quarter to pounds 6.9bn. While investment in government bonds was almost zero, insurance companies, pension funds and trusts put a record pounds 6.1bn in corporate debt securities.
